At first glance the elaborate pictures, which sell for up to $5,300, seem to have been created with pencil or paint but they are actually composed of tiny folds in the paper. (Pics)

Now that we’re moving on from traditional lightbulbs to more eco-friendly designs, designers have much more freedom with what they do with light. Design house Hulger is tackling light bulbs as their next big object, using the twisting tubes as pieces of functional art that you won’t want to hide behind a shade.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could shop for clothes without constantly having to try them on in the fitting room? The vision could soon become a reality thanks to the “virtual mirror” presented by Fraunhofer researchers at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin from August 29 to September 3. This mirror-like display enables shoppers to see themselves wearing different items of clothing without having to undo a single button.
Burj Dubai is set to be the world’s tallest building and the centerpiece of the Gulf regions most prestigious urban development, entitled Downtown Dubai. The Arabic meaning for the word Burj is ‘tower’, which gives Burj Dubai a meaning of ‘Dubai Tower’ or ‘Tower of Dubai’. Its exact height hasn’t been disclosed but it has been confirmed that it will be over 700 meters tall and its design was influenced by the six petal desert flower.
