Driverless flying taxi service set to launch in Dubai

Dubai has announced yet another pioneering initiative, but this time it’s not the world’s first rotating skyscraper or 3D printed office. It’s a fleet of flying taxis.

Small enough to fit into a car parking space when folded up, the one-seater passenger drones made by Chinese company Ehang are set to start picking up passengers in July this year, according to Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA).

Thousands of luxury cars are being abandoned every year since Dubai’s financial meltdown.

Dubai over the last several years has been facing an unusual problem of high end sports cars being abandoned and left to gather thick layers of dust at airport parking lots and on the roadside across the city. If you’ve ever been to Dubai or anywhere in the United Arab Emirates, you will have noticed they have a serious car culture out there, with a particular preference for the latest and greatest in high-end super cars. The Water Discus Hotel – an underwater hotel in Dubai

The Water Discus in Dubai is one of the latest projects in an underwater hotel. The hotel comprises two discs – an underwater and above-water one. This combination will allow guests to admire the depths of the ocean while making the most of the warm climate. (Video and photos)

Seems like we’ve flown too close to the sun on this one–Dubai’s ambitious World of Islands that were built as part of a luxurious resort are now eroding back into the sea from which they came. Millions of tons of sand were pumped in to form the islands to mimic the world, and as you can see no longer resemble the world so much as… suggesting it. Property assessments are grim…
