“There is no future in any job. The future lies in
the person who holds the job.” – George W. Crane
Futurist Thomas Frey: One of my primary complaints with higher education is that they tend to prepare students for jobs of the past. The way a Midwesterner would phrase it, “they are constantly shooting behind the duck.”

We are here with a world renowned futurist, Tom Frey at the DaVinci Institute Vault, actually sitting in the ‘vault’ at the Vault. Tom explains the Vault is a co-working space. There are more and more people working from home and they suffer from two problems, either isolation or distractions. If you have a lot of kids at home [or even one] you understand distraction, we’re sure. After working at home for a while, one begins to crave conversation with like minded people, and that’s what you get at the DaVinci Institute. “You’re around people doing similar type work…” Tom says the true value is in all the sidebar conversations that go on here.

As GM gets ready to roll out its electric mini-car, the Chevy Spark, its concept electric vehicle, the Chevy EN-V, a two-seater that the automaker has developed was a-buzz at last year’s Shanghai World Expo. The EN-V could be an end to gridlock, an end to accidents and n end to driving altogether. In fact you can conduct a video conference in traffic, and this podcar parks itself. This next-generation vehicle combines zero-transmission, super-connectivity and other advanced technologies to makes the future of individual transportation actually seem sustainable. (video)
Futurist Thomas Frey: Over that past week I’ve had the great honor of working with both the good people at the North Dakota Bankers Association in Bismarck, ND and the good people at Rabobank in Napa, CA on the rapidly evolving topic of the future of agriculture.
