In January, the economy added nearly 250,000 jobs, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. The economy is expected to add more than 20 million jobs by 2020, a 14.3% increase from 2010 in the number of people employed, according to recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Many of these jobs will be focused in a few key industries.

Corporate offices are going to become coworking offices in the future.

If you are a fan of coworking and are going to the SXSW this year in Austin, you might want to arrive a few days early to hit the Global Coworking Unconference Conference (formerly known as the Coworking Unconference) being held in Austin on March 8. The all-day event is geared toward owners and there will be a range of panels on starting and running a space. But at least one discussion might be of interest not only to coworking entrepreneurs but also to forward-thinking managers as well.

Home births in the U.S. rise by 30%

Home births are still rare in the United States but it is a growing trend.

Jessica Wilcox thinks her in-laws still view her ideas about childbirth as kind of out there, but it’s hard to argue with success: In the last five years or so, Wilcox has given birth to two boys and two girls — each weighing more than 10 pounds — at her northern Virginia home. And she hopes to do it again one or two more times.

The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor shows entrepreneurial activity revived in 2011 after years of decline

Early-stage entrepreneurial activity rates surged around the world in 2011, jumping nearly 60 percent in the U.S., according to a survey released this week by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor. More than 12 percent of U.S. adults reported starting a business or running new businesses last year, up from just below 8 percent in 2010.
