The demand for applications has created 466,000 jobs in the U.S. since 2007.

If you are looking for a promising career in a lousy economy then you are apt to find it in apps — the services and tools built to run on smartphones, computer tablets and Facebook’s online social network, according to a new study.

More than half of employers say they can’t find qualified workers

A survey of employers found a huge jump in U.S. employers saying they were having trouble filling open jobs.

There are 13 million people in the United States looking for work.  It seems like anyone who wants to hire someone would have little difficulty doing so.

But many employers are saying otherwise.

If the Luddite Fallacy were true, we would all be out of work by now.

There is a tale told about Henry Ford II showing Walter Reuther, the veteran leader of the United Automobile Workers, around a newly automated car plant. “Walter, how are you going to get those robots to pay your union dues,” gibed the boss of Ford Motor Company. Reuther replied, “Henry, how are you going to get them to buy your cars?”

Unemployment leading cause of trouble among couples

Unemployment is rocking the love boat.

A leading cause of trouble in the bedroom is unemployment.  With the jobless rate stuck at more than 9 percent, studies show that unemployment is taking a toll on all stages of relationships – from courting to marriage, and of course, to divorce. Instead of the traditional arch of a relationship, the trajectory of unemployed love looks a whole lot different.

Are new technologies making jobs obsolete?

Post office is the latest casualty of digital technology.

Digital technology is slowly but steadily replacing working humans.  And the latest casualty of digital technology is the U.S. Postal Service.  The post office is going to have to drastically scale back its operations or shut down altogether if they don’t find an external source of funding. 600,000 people will be out of work and another 480,000 pensioners facing an adjustment in terms.
