Does ‘Vaccinated’ sound better than genetically raped?
The latest face-palm absurdity concerning genetically modified crops: One of the UK’s top agricultural scientists has floated the idea that GM crops should be rebranded as “vaccinated” or “inoculated” so that the public would embrace them more willingly…
Policy Director of the Soil Association responded aptly: “This is the biggest load of desperate rubbish I’ve ever heard. And they’ve tried this before. Back in the 1980s no had heard of GM. It was called genetic engineering, and they thought it would sound nicer if they called it GM. It didn’t work then and it won’t work now.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself. And let’s hope it won’t work now.
If you had to rebrand GM crops, what’d you name them? Let’s take ‘Frankenfood’ as too easy…
