Adertisers want to catch a person’s attention and create a memorable impression.   Billboard advertisements do just that.  They leave the reader thinking about the advertisement after they have driven past it.  They need to be readable in a very short time because they are usually read while being passed at high speeds.  Usually they have only a few words in large print and are humorous or have arresting images in brilliant color.  (Pics)

Avid fans of the popular service already know what that means — for the rest of you, Pandora lets users mark the song that’s currently playing with a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down. The effect is pretty straightforward: hit a thumbs up and Pandora will try to play more music that sounds like the song you’re listening to, thumbs down and Pandora will immediately jump to the next song and send a minor electric shock to CTO Tom Conrad…

Factories making Apple iPhones and iPads forced staff to sign pledges not to commit suicide before they were taken on. At least 14 workers at Apple’s Chinese supplier Foxconn have killed themselves in 16 months.

while substance has an affinity for income”
– Dee Hock, former CEO of Visa

Futurist Thomas Frey:  Disintermediation is a term that sprung to life in the mid-1990s during the formative years of the Internet. Enterprising people learned very quickly that this new communication system could disintermediate, or bypass, many different layers of the business food chain and eliminate entire categories of decision makers both inside and outside of corporations.
