Arlan Jaska is in the eight grade and he has figured out ow to write a simple script that could switch his keyboard’s Caps Lock key on and off 6,000 times a minute. He would slip his program onto his friends computers when they weren’t looking. It was all fun and games until the program spread to his middle school.

The studio behind Star Trek Into Darkness took the film’s title literally, commissioning the flying of a giant, glowing Starfleet insignia in the night sky in London over the weekend. Comprised of 30 LED-illuminated quadrotors, the 308-foot-tall logo rotated in place 118 feet above ground, before dimming its lights alongside those of Tower Bridge and Big Ben in recognition of the WWF’s Earth Hour conservation effort.

Scientists clone 581 mice from one mouse.
Japanese scientists have taken cloning to a whole new level. They have managed to push the technique to new limits by cloning 581 mice – all from a single original cell. If their results can be replicated in other animals it could provide a way for virtually unlimited supplies of genetically superior farm animals or other animals important to research.
