“A tipping point” for collisions has been reached with the amount of debris orbiting the Earth, which would in turn generate more of the debris that threatens astronauts and satellites, according to a U.S. study released on Thursday.

The Allstate Insurance Company has released its seventh annual “Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report™.” The report ranks America’s 200 largest cities in terms of car collision frequency to identify which cities have the safest drivers, according to Allstate claim data.

Top two foods linked to weight loss: Surprising study results

This is one of the foods that is linked to weight loss.

A Harvard School of Public Health study provides  lots of information that could help you eat healthier and gently lose excess pounds. The study covered a 20-year period and involved over 120,000 people, so these were not conclusions based on skimpy data. One goal of the study was to analyze specific foods and activities that seemed connected to long-term, gradual weight gain–or loss.

Almost half of the population drinks a sugar-sweetened beverage on any given day.  But teenagers and young men consuming way more than recommended limits for staying healthy.

PodPonics – shipping containers transformed into miniature hydroponic farms

PodPonics is new hope for urban agriculture. The startup, based in Atlanta, is pursuing a new kind of recycling.  They are transforming old shipping containers into miniature hydroponic farms that can be used to grow food anywhere. Matt Liotta started PodPonics in 2010 and it is already supplying about 200 pounds of leafy greens a week using six converted containers.  About one acre’s worth of produce can be produced in each “pod” which is in only 320 square feet. PodPonics crops use 90% less water than traditional farms, no pesticides, less fertilizer, and go from harvest to your plate in just a matter of hours! (Pics)
