China reveals its space plans through 2016

Over the next five years, China plans to launch space labs and manned ships and prepare to build space stations, according to a plan released Thursday that shows the country’s space program is gathering momentum.

Loud TV commercials will soon be a thing of the past

Those annoying ultra-loud TV commercials will soon be a thing of the past.

Today, the Federal Communications Commission is expected to pass regulations requiring broadcasters and cable and satellite TV systems to maintain constant volume levels. The order will go into effect one year from today.   The order “says commercials must have the same average volume as the programs they accompany,” says FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski.

NASA plans first space washing machine that could microwave laundry

What  if you could put dirty clothes into a washing machine, leave, and only coming back once the freshly cleaned clothes have been dried out by microwaves.  That out-of-this-world-laundry concept could someday become a reality for astronauts and space explorers headed for the moon, asteroids or Mars.

Microscopic worms which are biologically very similar to humans may be the key to helping humans colonize other planets like Mars by giving clues on coping with long-term space living, according to British scientists.
