Researchers have actually printed viable retina cells using an inkjet printer.
The ability to print up new, living versions of the damaged parts of your body is becoming more viable as a medical procedure, and cuts and scrapes aren’t the only maladies that medical 3D printing can help cure. Living, 3D printed retina cells could someday aid in curing many kinds of blindness.

While a human is picking up the phone, and a human is dialing the phone, it may not be a conversation between two humans.
In the future humans will interact with each other, and machines, and systems that can only properly be called cyborg. People are fielding millions of calls from bright, energetic telemarketers, but what they don’t know is that they’re talking to machines… Sort of. (Video)

Rooftop solar on a house in Hawaii.
William Walker and his wife, Mi Chong, wanted to join what’s seen as a solar revolution in Hawaii. Shortly after buying their Oahu home earlier this year, they plunked down $35,000 for a rooftop photovoltaic system. RSA had been paid by the NSA to set the backdoored algorithm as the default method of random number generation.
A secret $10 million deal between the NSA and the security firm RSA has resulted in RSA incorporating a flawed algorithm for generating random numbers into its products, creating a backdoor into encrypted communications.
Tomorrow’s graduates will be facing a much different environment than the ones their parents entered in the last generation. As a result of our growing reliance on the Internet and inability to curb our fossil fuel appetites, there are dozens of jobs today that didn’t exist just 10 years ago – and they pay much better than more “traditional” jobs in many cases.

The home automation market size is around $8.8 billion.
In terms of homes that have a broadband connection as a market for home automation, the market size turns out to be around $8.8 billion at $100 spent per home or $880 billion at $10,000 for the U.S. If we are a little more conservative and say that only those broadband subscribers who use smartphones are targets, the range turns out to be about $5.63 – $563 billion. In order to capture this opportunity a number of business models have come into play. While these are not new business models, it is interesting to see how this opportunity is being captured.
