Mobile developers are unhappy with app marketing and advertising.
Over 70 percent of developers are dissatisfied with their current options for app marketing and advertising. That’s the results of a survey by Papaya Mobile, which offers the AppFlood service for promoting mobile games and apps. The survey shows that the majority of developers don’t have a clear idea of the benefits of mobile marketing channels. In particular, they don’t trust ad network providers.

More than 1.4 million apps combined are offered through Apple and Google’s app stores, but there are only 25 U.S. developers that generate half of the revenue from app sales, says a new study by the research firm Canalys.

Everyone knows that software experts make big bucks.
Glassdoor published its most recent software engineering salary report last week. It found that it pays to code. Google and Facebook employees earn a base salary of ~$125K, not counting benefits, 401k matching, stock options/grants, etc., and even Yahoo! developers pull in six figures. Everyone knows that good engineers are awfully hard to find. Demand has skyrocketed, supply has stagnated, prices have risen. Basic economics.

The sentiment that software is taking over the world has become widely accepted throughout the tech community. Last year it was examined in depth by Marc Andreessen. However, as software continues to infiltrate nearly every industry, there’s a serious consequence taking shape. The demand for development continues to grow exponentially, but the amount of qualified developers that are available to produce this commodity is not.
