60% of Children Lie About Their Age on the Internet

Parents are being encouraged to take an interest in and support their children’s online activity during Safer Internet Day.

   Young people are defying the dangers that adults have warned them about and are still taking chances that could put themselves at risk online, according to new research.  Six out of every 10 young people who make contact with strangers on the internet lie about their age, a new survey has revealed, and 43 per cent have online ‘friends’ they’ve never met in real life, says research to mark Safer Internet Day.

I use a permanent silk filter for my coffee maker, but I still have open packages of filters. Now I can put those filters to work doing other things! And you can buy 1,000 at most dollar stores for pennies, even the large ones.

1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the  microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers.

2. Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome…  Coffee filters are lint-free so they’ll leave windows sparkling.

3.  Protect China by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish.

Materials under development at MIT could lead to coatings that repel both water and oil. A group of MIT researchers have created an improved set of design rules for making any surface impervious to any liquid, be it water or gasoline. Such materials could eventually have promise as fingerprint-repelling coatings, fuel filters, self-washing car paints, and stain-resistant clothing.
