How old is Barbie?  Not in how many years she has existed but how old is she? She is a close to a 19-year-old girl, right? Everyone knows that a Barbie doll doesn’t look like a real person, but what you might not know is that in order for her proportions to be real; she would have to be an alien or some sort of half-human.  Diane Adams wrote about this a few months ago in her article,  Typical Barbie Body vs. Typical Real Woman Body. World’s largest model railroad

Miniatur Wunderland (in German it means “miniature wonderland”)  is the world’s largest model railroad, with over 39,000 feet of tracks taking up over 12,000 square feet in Hamburg. Construction on Miniatur Wunderland began in 2001, the project is not expected to be finished until 2020, at which point it will be twice as big as it is today.

More than three decades ago, Scott Weaver began building a model of San Francisco out of 100,000 toothpicks. He began the fragile project at the age of fifteen, which has survived four homes, an earthquake, and a destructive dog. In The San Francisco Gate, Janny Hu writes:

Pregnant women are being given the chance to hold life-size models of their unborn babies, thanks to an invention that converts data from ultrasound and MRI scans.

Jorge Lopes, a Brazilian designer, uses 3-D printing technology to create the plaster models, which go on show today at an exhibition at the Royal College of Art in London.

But the invention has already attracted the attention of medical experts. “For doctors this is a fantastic development and it is absolutely unique,” said Stuart Campbell, head of obstetrics and gynaecology at King’s College London and a pioneer of the use of ultrasound diagnosis in the 1980s…

As you can see in this video, the robot has a series of motors situated throughout its 5-foot tall, 95-pound body that give it a rather life-like appearance.
