The Scream sets a new record!

If he were alive, Edvard Munch would’ve screamed. You see, his iconic painting The Scream (the pastel version – one of four that Edvard has drawn) has just sold for a record $120 million at auction to an anonymous buyer.

The other three versions of The Scream are all owned by Norwegian museums, but Sotheby’s say the version they sold is the most colourful…

The Remarkable Paintings of Tetsuya Ishida

Man as the machine

Tetsuya Ishida was a remarkable and prolific Japanese painter who depicted scenes of ordinary Japanese life, but with the protagonist (a self portrait) always trapped in a machine-like body, or treated as part of a production line. He was born in June 1973 and died in 2005 after being hit by a train. Some think his death may have been a suicide. Here are a few of the images that represent his legacy. (Pics)

Researchers Olivier Bauer, Nancy Labonté, Jonas Saint-Martin and Sébastien Fillion of the Université de Montréal Faculty of Theology have found new meaning to the food depicted by Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous artwork.

The top 10 images are those that were seen as “good” pictures, while the bottom 10 were the “bad” pictures.

Pigeons could be art critics yet, according to a new study which shows that like humans, pigeons can be trained to tell the difference between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ paintings. According to Professor Shigeru Watanabe from Keio University in Japan, pigeons use both color and pattern cues to judge the paintings’ beauty as defined by humans, as well as their texture.
