Archaeologists have discovered a wooden version of British prehistoric monument Stonehenge at the same site, the project’s leader.  Using radar, the archaeologists found a circular ditch less than one kilometer away from the iconic stone circle, which is thought to date back to the Neolithic period 2,000 to 4,000 years ago.

Scientists Find Evidence Of First Human Occupation In Australia

Evidence of what could be Australia’s earliest human occupation has been found on the fringe of desert in the country’s remote northwest, archaeologists said Tuesday.

Peter Veth, of the Australian National University, said an artifact dated at between 45,000 and 50,000 years old found near the shores of Lake Gregory could be the start of a 25-year study into Australia’s first humans.

“This is the first evidence of human activity … in the arid northwest of the continent which can be dated to a time before the last great Ice Age,” he said in a statement.

Giant lions were roaming around Britain, Europe and North America up to 13,000 years ago, scientists from Oxford University have found.

Remains of giant cats previously discovered were thought to be a species of jaguar or tiger but after DNA analysis they were proved to be lions.

They found ceramic bowls, as well as tubes for inhaling drug fumes or powders, which appear to have originated in South America between 100BC and 400BC and were then carried 400 miles to the islands.
