Bitcoin, the world’s fastest-gaining currency has tripled in price again. Last week, SmartMoney reported that the Bitcoin had exploded from an exchange rate near zero to more than $10 in about a year, making it one of the top-returning assets of any kind. On Wednesday the currency topped $30.

Study Shows Parents Unaware How Much Their Children Make Them Buy

 

The influence children wield over their parents’ purchase decisions at the point of sale is grossly underestimated by parents. This was shown in a new study conducted by researchers at the University of Vienna, Austria. According to the study by consumer researchers Claus Ebster and Udo Wagner, twice as many purchases in supermarkets are triggered by children than their parents are aware of. The study was published in the internationally renowned Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services.

A recent PiperJaffray survey of 200 US Internet users has found mixed responses to the question of how a slowing economy might affect e-commerce spending.

When asked how their discretionary e-commerce spending would change in 2008 versus 2007, 33% plan to purchase less online, while only 12% will purchase more and 55% will purchase the same amount.
