More than 95% of the world’s population breathe unsafe air and the burden is falling hardest on the poorest communities, with the gap between the most polluted and least polluted countries rising rapidly, a comprehensive study of global air pollution has found.

China to combat smog with artificial rain

Will cloud seeding work to wash the smog out of the air?

China has a severe air pollution problem. Smog has done everything from grounding planes at major airports to closing schools across the country. China’s smog is so dense that it’s even crept over to Japan and across other parts of Asia. China is working on putting measures into place to combat pollution, but they still need a more immediate solution for clearing up the heavy smog. According to the China Meteorological Administration, he country is putting its hopes on artificial rain.

Beijing, China is frequently shrouded in dense, yellowish smog so thick that the other side of the road is obscured. Alcoa’s smog-eating architectural panels

The giant multinational of aluminum production Alcoa announced last week that its new “smog-eating” architectural panels can remove pollutants from the surrounding air. The aluminum panels, branded Reynobond with EcoClean technology, have a titanium dioxide coating which breaks down pollutants in direct sunlight.
