The CozyTherm™ is an innovative, very low-cost solar heating system designed to cut heating costs by half or more. When coupled with a heat storage system in a properly designed structure, it may provide nearly all the heating necessary throughout the year. It can be used with new construction or to retrofit existing homes, businesses, greenhouses or other structures.

U.S. Solar Industry now employs 100,000 people, grew 6.8% since August 2010

That’s a net gain 6,700 jobs in one year!

Don’t let the Solyndra talk fool you: The clean energy sector is still booming. And even booming industries — maybe especially booming industries — see a fair share of once-promising companies go belly up. It’s unfortunate that the Obama administration once touted Solyndra as an example of the fast-growing renewable power sector, but its bankruptcy is a poor reflection of the industry’s health as a whole. In fact, renewable energy remains one of the few sectors to see consistent growth over the last couple years.

A new report highlights that health, revealing that the solar industry employs over 100,000 people, and added over 6,700 jobs in the last 12 months alone…

Iowa: Now 20% wind-powered

windfarmnearalta2

Taking advantage of the wind in Iowa.

Iowa now gets a higher percentage of its power from wind than any other state in the nation. The Des Moines Register is reporting that Iowa’s wind generation hit the 20% mark last quarter, supplying the state with a full one fifth of its energy needs. That’s really good — like, Denmark good. Stats like this make it harder and harder for cleantech foes to deny that renewable power is fast becoming an integral part of the American energy mix…

The camera Revolution is about to begin.

While on the move, what if any of your gadgets, such as a phone, laptop or iPod, run out of energy? Since it’s not always possible to carry a charger everywhere you go, what one can do wait for a power supply nearby. So, if such a situation arises, you can’t do much but wait till you get back home to pump life into your gadgets. But Revolution designed by Carl McGreavy is here to change this theory. Revolution is a self recharging digital camera which will get all the powers to function by a Dynamo…

Everything Will be Powered by the Sun in the Future

solar_reactor

The ETH-Caltech solar fuel reactor uses concentrated heat from the sun to create fuel from water and carbon dioxide.

New scheme would use only sunlight, air and water to supply energy for cars, laptops, GPS systems.  “At the California Institute of Technology, they’re developing a way to turn sunlight and water into fuel for our cars.”–President Barack Obama, Jan. 25, 2011.

An artitist’s impression of the Al-Rayyan stadium which will play host to World Cup matches.

The 2022 World Cup has been awarded to Qatar, a country that averages 41 degrees Celsius (106°F) during June and July when the tournament is held.  There aren’t too many spectators that will be able to keep up their team spirit in that kind of heat, so organizers have been looking for a creative solution to help block the sun’s sizzling rays.

The Water-Scraper Habitat

Visions of water dwellings.

Taking advantage of the 71% of the Earth covered in water, the “Water-Scraper” is a partially submerged, self-contained habitat. A combination of tidal, solar and wind sources generate power for the floating behemoth while garden acreage just above the water line produces food for the structure’s inhabitants.
