The study shows a mountain of accumulated evidence the damage physical punishment can have on a child.

Long-term developmental damage as well as a lower IQ can be a result of spanking children according to a new Canadian analysis that seeks to shift the ethical debate over corporal punishment into the medical sphere.

Children Who Are Spanked Have Lower IQ’s


Children who are spanked have lower IQs worldwide, including in the United States, according to new groundbreaking research by University of New Hampshire professor Murray Straus. The research results will be presented Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at the 14th International Conference on Violence, Abuse and Trauma, in San Diego, Calif.
