World poverty rate is shrinking rapidly: Study

The brighter global picture is the result of international and national aid and development projects.

According to a new groundbreaking academic study, some of the poorest people in the world are becoming significantly less poor.  The study has taken a new approach to measuring deprivation.  Oxford University’s poverty and human development initiative report predicts that countries among the most impoverished in the world could see acute poverty eradicated within 20 years if they continue at present rates.

Internet inventor, Vint Cerf, worried about its survival

Vint Cerf, inventor of the Internet Protocol [IP] and Transmission Control Protocol [TCP].

One of the two or three people who can rightly claim to have invented the internet is Vint Cerf.  He is now worried about its survival.

Cerf is specifically concerned about the World Conference on International Telecommunications, happening now through December 14 in Dubai. At this meeting, for the first time since 1988, the countries of the world will gather to try and update international agreements on how to handle data, voice, and other communications technologies. Designer Drug Abuse Out of Control in Many Regions of the World

The problem of so-called “designer drugs” is running out of control in many regions of the world, the U.N. global drugs watchdog said Wednesday.  The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) said detailed instructions for how to make designer drugs, which are slightly altered to bypass existing control systems, are often shared via the Internet.

Small Island States in Danger of ‘Extinction’

They are now calling for a ‘climate change insurance fund’ to protect their people from ‘going extinct’ as yet another fear-based UN report warns that a sea level rise will make whole nations uninhabitable.


IPCC Warned to Stop Lobbying and to Restrict It’s Role to Explaining Global Warming

An independent investigation into the UN’s climate change body has warned it to stop lobbying and to restrict its role to explaining the science behind any changes in global temperature.  Senior officials at the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have also been ordered to disclose their outside financial interests to avert any allegations that they may have profited from policies to tackle global warming.


UN To Discuss International Air Traffic Control For Outer Space


Debris objects in Earth’s orbit is an increasingly troublesome issue.

An international air traffic control for outer space should be set up to prevent damage to satellites and spacecraft orbiting the Earth, according to proposal to be discussed at the United Nations next week.  Space experts from around the world will discuss ways of tackling the growing problem of space debris in orbit around the Earth. It comes just a year after an American satellite collided with a Russian satellite.
