Resilience is the ability to recover from fumbles or outright mistakes and bounce back.

How someone handles is losing is the difference between a winner and a loser. That’s a key finding between great companies and effective leaders: no one can completely avoid troubles and potential pitfalls are everywhere, so the real skill is the resilience to climb out of the hole and bounce back.

Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin and Yuri Milner created the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences Foundation.

Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin and Yuri Milner, Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, have jointly established the most lucrative annual prize in the history of science to reward research into curing diseases and extending human life.

DaVinci Institute Annouces Awards at DaVinci Inventor Showcase

Several winners were announced as top inventors for 2010

The DaVinci Institute, a futurist think tank and host of the 6th annual DaVinci Inventor Showcase announced the award winners at the event held November 13th at the Rotors of the Rockies in Broomfield, Colorado. Winners in the five categories accepted their honors as the evening came to a close.  The DaVinci Institute also extended its thanks to Colorado and surrounding states for participating in this year’s event. Seventy celebrity judges from venture capital, the media, high profile businesses and academia selected the award winners based on their innovation and value of their creations to society.

“Instructables is happy to announce the winners of the USB Contest !

Before we get to the winners we have to say that judging wasn’t easy. There were so many good entries that we added an extra first prize and we still feel a little bummed about there being a cutoff. There does have to be a limit however.

So thank you very much to everyone who entered. You all rocked it with so many cool ideas in the different entries. It was an exciting contest and one that we’ll likely revisit in the future.

The event featured a keynote presentation by Jay Walker, founder of and John Calvert, Senior Examiner, United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO).
