Using data from Yelp, the Huffington Post has created the above map showing each state’s biggest cuisine outliers.  

(Reminder that these are not the most popular cuisine types. The formula takes the number of restaurants of a given type as a percent of all restaurants in that state, and identifies the specific cuisine that is the highest percentage over the national average. For example, New Jersey’s Portuguese restaurants as a percentage of the state’s restaurants is 880 percent higher than the country’s Portuguese places’ share of the nation’s eateries.)
