The transformative trends of the past 50 years that have led to a sharp decline in marriage and a rise of new family forms have been shaped by attitudes and behaviors that differ by class, age and race, according to a new Pew Research Center nationwide survey, conducted in association with TIME magazine, and complemented by an analysis of demographic and economic data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Drugs frequently prescribed to treat hair loss or an enlarged prostate may contribute to irreversible sexual dysfunction in men, new research finds.  Use of dutasteride (Avodart) and finasteride (Proscar and Propecia) were linked to erectile dysfunction, depression and loss of libido in a review of existing studies.

Washington D.C. is the most socially networked city in America.

A new survey released by Men’s Health magazine names the top socially networked cities in America.  The top spot goes to Washington D.C., a city where staying connected can get out the vote, and virtual handshakes help shape our nation.  D.C. ranked above Atalnta, Ga., Denver, Colo., and Minneapolis, Minn.  Palo Alto, Calif., home to Facebook, did not even make the list of 100 cities.

Japan’s Earthquake Causes Day to Get a Tiny Bit Shorter

The rotation has changed ever so slightly.

You won’t notice it, but the day just got a tiny bit shorter because of Friday’s giant earthquake off the coast of Japan.

NASA geophysicist Richard Gross calculated that Earth’s rotation sped up by 1.8 microseconds. That’s because of the shift in Earth’s mass caused by the 8.9-magnitude earthquake. A microsecond is one-millionth of a second.
