By creating a distinctive username—and reusing it on multiple websites—you may be giving online marketers and scammers a simple way to track you. Four researchers from the French National Institute of Computer Science (INRIA) studied over 10 million usernames—collected from public Google profiles, eBay accounts, and several other sources. They found that about half of the usernames used on one site could be linked to another online profile, potentially allowing marketers and scammers to build a more complex picture the users.

Doctors Warn Energy Drinks Putting Consumers at Risk as Sales Soar

Sex Ban Suggested for Belgian Coalition Negotiators

Sex bans have helped form governments in the past.

The partners of Belgian politicians are being urged to go on a sex strike until a government is formed. The country had general elections last June but parties have so far been unable to form a governing coalition.

Socialist senator Marleen Temmerman said after a week of a similar sex ban in Kenya in 2009, a government was formed. Previous attempts to pressure Belgian negotiators into agreement have included a “grow a beard” campaign.

British Plan Closure of Over 450 Libraries

Under 50-year-old laws, local councils currently have a legal obligation to provide comprehensive library services.

Public libraries across the country could be closed to save money, under plans being considered by ministers.  More than 450 libraries are facing closure because of public spending cuts. The Government believes that the spread of the internet and other social changes may mean that councils should be free to close libraries.

More than half a billion adults are clinically obese in a near-doubling of the numbers of dangerously overweight adults since 1980s , doctors warned on Friday . Nearly one in nine of all adults — are clinically obese, according to research by a team from Imperial College London , Harvard and the World Health Organisation (WHO ).

Drought is a problem in the Amazon Rainforests.

The Amazon suffered a record-making drought in 2005, which was thought to be the worst in the 108 years since tracking rains and droughts began. However, researchers are now saying that the drought the region struggled through in 2010 was likely even worse. The impact of two major droughts within a decade could mean that the rainforest so important to carbon capture could be hitting an irreversible downward spiral.
