The Hershey Company is hiring a futurist.

The Hershey Company is it the largest chocolate manufacturer in the United States, selling 40 percent of domestic dark chocolate.  But Hershey also operates a store/museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania. And one in Times Square. And one in Las Vegas. And they also operate an amusement park.

This Gates-funded toilet will change how we think about poop

Yan Qu and Clement Cid spend a lot more time thinking about poop than your average academics. The pair, both at Caltech, are part of a team working on what could be the future of bathrooms: a self-cleaning, solar-powered toilet that turns human waste into hydrogen and fertilizer.

Philips intelligent store lighting can track shoppers

Philips has announced that it is piloting a system in which LED store lamps track shoppers. Shoppers would first have to download the store’s app. Once they do, every lamp in the store is able to communicate with the shoppers’ phones using pulses of light the human eye can’t detect. The lamps know whether someone is in the produce section or the peanut butter aisle… and in response, the app can call up killer deals on bananas or jelly, depending.

Bitcoin is not only digital currency, it’s Napster for finance

Bitcoin will start its transformation from a mere currency into an entire open-source.

Bitcoin’s valuation didn’t just skyrocket in 2013, but its infrastructure, services, and adoption exploded as well, culminating in recent announcements that major online retailer Overstock.com and NBA team the Sacramento Kings would accept the digital currency as payment.
