Lawrence Lessig’s Mayday.us just raised a lot of money to help get the money out of politics by campaigning to elect five politicians who will enact campaign finance reform. Last week, the Super PAC hit its $5 million grassroots fundraising goal thanks to 47,000 supporters, which will be matched by $5 million in donations from wealthy tech luminaries.

The American Red Cross has received more than $22 million in U.S. text-message donations for Haiti earthquake relief efforts, far outpacing the charity’s previous record of $400,000 for emergency relief using similar technology.
Colorado Inventor Showcase collecting non-perishable donations for the FISH Food Bank
On Tuesday, the DaVinci Institute will collect donations as part of the fifth Colorado Inventors Showcase. The event is from 1:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the University of Denver`s Cable Center, 2000 Buchtel Blvd., Denver. School children who bring non-perirshable goods will be able to get in free to the student program from 3:00 – 4:30 . Registration is required so please contact Deb or Jan at 303-666-4133.

Paul Smith – dubbed the Twitchhiker – made the 11,000-mile trip using only donations from people who use the social networking site Twitter.

Like other cities in the Western U.S. and the world, San Francisco will be turning its attention to water shortages that could become severe this year. San Francisco-based Twitter has already gone to work on a grander scale, attacking the global water shortage crisis that affects 1.1 billion people.
A fall 2007 study conducted by Convio, Sea Change Strategies and Edge Research has found a number of online marketing opportunities for non-profit organizations.
Of the donors surveyed, 72% said that donating online is more efficient. More than half said they prefer to give online.
