The Taste Test

University of Hertfordshire Psychologist Prof Richard Wiseman has revealed the results of The Taste Test.  The Taste Test is a large-scale experiment to discover whether expensive wines are good value for money. The experiment involved over 400 members of the public tasting either an expensive or inexpensive wine.   Then they tried to tell which was which.  The experiment was carried out as part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival.

4,000 people died in the construction of Hitler’s Submarine Bunker

The submarine bunker is gigantic — and expensive. A World War II-era military facility is slowly succumbing to the elements, and nobody seems willing to pay for its upkeep. In fact, the German armed forces has offered it for sale.

The bunker Valentin was built by the Nazis as a bomb-proof submarine factory. It never went into use, but 4,000 slave laborers, concentration camp inmates and prisoners of war died in its construction. More photos after the jump.

Wall Street Paying for this Year’s Super Expensive Campaign

Eight of the 10 largest donors so far to the U.S. presidential campaigns are Wall Street banks, led by Goldman Sachs, according to research on Thursday from a political watchdog group.

Goldman and its executives have pumped $1.7 million into the races, with 70 percent going to Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, despite former CEO Henry Paulson’s present job as treasury secretary for the Republican Bush administration.
