Thanks to their incredible speed and capacity, magnetic levitation trains, or maglev for short, have been a big hit in Asia. But a new development called super-maglev could be set to push the limits even higher.

Map reveals how the entire world could be connected using a global underground network

Web developer Chris Gray came up with his idea for a global Underground map when he was visiting Australia.

What if you could board a train in Madras, India and travel to Boston without changing trains? One man has imagined the world as a giant London Underground map where people can travel freely between countries and traverse vast bodies of water from the comfort of their seat while vehicles speed through vast tunnels.

Dutch railway station installs ‘transfer accelerator’ for busy passengers

“Transfer accelerator” at the Overvecht Station in Utrecht.

Commuting is typically a bit of a grind even on the nicest, newest subway or bus system. A metro station in the Netherlands, though, has sought to liven up the experience — by installing a slide that riders can zip down instead of taking the stairs. It may sound a little silly but itdoes look like fun. ‘Track therapy’ – Indonesians risk lives in latest health craze

Indonesians lay across railroad tracks in the belief the current wil cure them of their illnesses.

Despite the danger and the efforts by authorities in Jakarta to halt the craze, Indonesians with illnesses have been lying down across railway lines in the mistaken belief that a low-voltage electric current in the tracks will cure them as it passes through their bodies. (pics and video)

Mumbai to Delhi train travel time could be cut to only 7 hours

At present the train travel time from Mumbai to Delhi runs 16 hours.

Train travel time between the national and the commercial capitals of India could soon come down by at least half to only seven hours.  The infrastructure for the Golden Rail Corridor, which will have trains running at semihigh speed (160-200 kmph) between New Delhi and Mumbai, is likely to cost around Rs 5,000 crore, according to railway officials.  They say the cost is relatively low as the railways will not have to acquire land for the project.
