At this point, we seem to be down to one option: electric pickup trucks.

Our future was teased in a 30-second General Motors ad featuring Lebron James during the Super Bowl. Announcing a “quiet revolution,” the company offered a glimpse of one of the most counterintuitive passenger vehicles in memory: an electric pickup truck under the revived (and, in some quarters, reviled) nameplate Hummer. The company will unveil the GMC Hummer EV in May.

Turning Postal Trucks into Mobile Sensor Arrays

It may deliver in snow, rain, heat, and gloom of night, but the U.S. Postal Service can’t seem to deliver a net-positive operating budget. Even after drastically cutting personnel last year, the USPS still went $8.5 billion into the red, a budget gap that could lead to insolvency this year. But in an op-ed in Saturday’s NYT, Chief Counsel to the Chairman of the Postal Regulatory Commission Michael Ravnitzky proposed an interesting idea to help the Postal Service get back in the black: turn mail trucks into a data-producing nationwide sensor network.

Forget Disney World, I’m Going To Diggerland!

If you’re a fan of heavy earth moving machinery, I’d suggest canceling that Disney World trip you have planned, and instead take the family to an even more magical place known as Diggerland. As far as I know it’s the only ‘theme park’ in the world where kids and adults can drive and operate real construction equipment including back hoes, dump trucks and all sizes of diggers. And surprisingly while you’d expect to find a park dedicated to heavy machinery in the US, it’s actually located in the UK.
