Hendo Hoverboard
Whenever you talk about hoverboards, the first thing that usually comes to mind is that awesome scene from Back to the Future Part II. It is now one step closer to reality. Arx Pax, a California startup, just built a real, working hoverboard. The company is attempting to crowdfund the Hendo Hoverboard as a proof of concept for its hover engine technology — it’s not quite the floating skateboard Marty McFly rode, but it’s an obvious precursor to the imagined ridable: a self-powered, levitating platform with enough power to lift a fully grown adult.

Futurist Thomas Frey said a library should be a forum for exchange of ideas.
Libraries of the future could become community go-to places where you can hire a car, cut out a neat-fitting dress on a 3D printer, show a movie that you made, or thrive in the company of others.
We already know that recruiting is an imprecise activity, and degrees don’t communicate much about a candidate’s potential and fit, but now data is confirming this. Employers need to know what a student knows and can do.

eBay, Hewlett-Packard and Symantec are three huge companies that have decided to split apart. Super investor Marc Andreessen was involved in two of these companies and predicts that this is only the beginning. He sits on the boards of eBay and HP.

This 3D printer has been developed to build cheap, sustainable houses using a clay-like paste.
WASP, an Italian 3D printer company, demonstrated a giant, three-armed printer they created at Maker Faire Rome. WASP’s 3D printer is unique as it can be assembled on site within two hours, and then filled with mud and fiber to build extremely cheap houses in some of the most remote places on Earth. (Video)

Women in the U.S. who are working in the science, engineering, and tech fields are 45% more likely than their male peers to leave the industry within the year, according to recent research from the Center for Talent Innovation.

It could take up to the year 2030 for physical money to disappear from Sweden’s system altogether.
Four out of five purchases in Sweden are paid for electronically or by card according to a new report from the Swedish news organization, The Local. They also report that Swedes are using electronic payments 260 times per person, per year.
