Lithium-air catalyst could make car and phone batteries last five times longer
US and South Korean scientists discovered catalyst materials that could make it possible to create lithium-air (Li-Air) batteries that can potentially store five times more power than lithium-ion (Li-On) batteries do today. Lithium-air batteries work by taking oxygen from the air and then using it in chemical reactions that will produce electricity, rather than storing an oxidiser internally like lithium-ion batteries.

Take a Selfie with Fastest-3D Printed InMoov Robot Ever
The Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, will have a special guest taking selfies and playing “Simon Says” with visitors, courtesy of the Hoboken-based Stevens Institute of Technology. The LSC recently approached the school about 3D printing an interactive and educational robot for a new exhibition. Together, they settled on 3D printing the open sourced InMoov robot project created by French designer and sculptor Gael Langevin, and created what could be the fastest 3D printed full-upper-torso robot ever.

Permission has been granted to a biotech company allowing them to attempt to reactive the brains of brain dead patients using stem cells
An institutional Review Board has given ethical permission to stimulate the brains of 20 brain dead patients to see if people can be partly revived. The highly controversial study, ReAnimaproject, which will start next year in India, will stimulate the nervous system in order to restore the brain.
Pharmeceutical companies need to change their business strategies to keep up in the digital age
High drug prices are restricting people who need access to potentially life saving medications, from getting what they need. In the U.S. when government authorized patents expire, pharmaceutical companies rush to buy the patents and raise the prices of drugs by 6,000 percent. Martin Shkreli, at a conference, said he didn’t go far enough when raising the price of HIV drug Daraprim by more than 5,000 percent. Now with the rapid growth of digital and medical technology some may have to rethink their strategies for the future.
U.S. military tests ship designed to cross oceans without a crew
The U.S. military’s unmanned vessel “Sea Hunter” has begun testing. A self-driving 40-metre ship designed to travel out at sea without a single crewmember. The ship has potential to revolutionize the commercial shipping industry, making it the first step to sending unmanned cargo ships to other countries.
