People will adapt to smart machines in their lives.

Coming to the business world: smart machines. But don’t tell that to the CEO’s. Sixty-percent of CEOs surveyed by Gartner Research say the emergence of smart machines capable of absorbing millions of middle-class jobs within 15 years is a “futurist fantasy.”

WildCat: Boston Dynamic’s new robot that can run and gallop

WildCat is the newest creation from Boston Dynamics. With a frame that’s somewhat reminiscent of their previous quadruped robot, LS3 (also referred to as mule), WildCat is actually more closely related to a cheetah. Either way you look at it, WildCat is a step forward for robotics.

Brewbot: a smartphone controlled brewing system for homebrewers

Brewbot

A delicious and rewarding hobby is brewing beer at home.  It is also a complex and time-consuming hobby. If your beer is going to come out right you will need the right amount of hops, barley, yeast, and water.  They must be combined and heated at very specific times and temperatures. Homebrewers taking on a new batch of golden brew must dedicate an entire day to its creation — not including bottling. But a handy new robot, developed in Northern Ireland, is putting an end to all that lost time.

China’s delivery companies testing parcel delivery with drones

SF Express is testing a drone it has built for delivering packages in China.

The US has a couple-decade head start on China in building drones that kill people. But when it comes to domestic uses, US businesses are hamstrung because the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) isn’t required to issue commercial drone rules until 2015. In the meantime, one of China’s biggest delivery companies is tinkering with using drones—with Chinese government permission. (Video)
