The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, a pro-establishment, pro-market thinking organization has released a report predicting a collapse in global economic growth rates, a rise in feudal wealth disparity, collapsing tax revenue and huge, migrating bands of migrant laborers roaming from country to country, seeking crumbs of work. They prescribe “flexible” workforces, austerity, and mass privatization.

Department of Education shuts down for-profit Corinthian Colleges

Federal regulations are designed to make sure that colleges that don’t offer a good value to students, don’t get student aid money.

Corinthian Colleges will put 85 of its U.S. campuses up for sale and close the remaining dozen under an agreement with the U.S. Department of Education. The for-profit college chain operates campuses under the names Heald, Everest and WyoTech. It has more than 70,000 students across North America. It’s the largest-ever college, by enrollment, to be shut down in this way.

Most Android users check their phones 150 times a day, according to Google. Wearable technologies like smart watches and Google Glass may eventually make us check our phones less often, but will almost certainly drive up the average user’s digital interruptions each day. Early users of Android Wear who were given Samsung Gear Live or LG G Watches at Google I/O report their wrists “constantly buzzing.” Digital technology has certainly increased the quantity of our mental stimulation, but what about the quality?

South Korea launches its 5th 1,800 ton 214-class submarine

South Korea has launched its fifth 1,800-ton-class attack submarine last week as part of efforts to boost its underwater warfare capabilities against North Korean submarines, the Navy said.The 214-class submarine, named after famous independence fighter Yun Bong-gil (1908-1932) and manufactured by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., will be delivered to the Navy in late 2015 and commissioned the next year, a Navy officer said.
