Fast food workers at dozens of fast food chains are walking out on strike for better wages.

When you think of a typical fast food employee do you think of a teenager working for extra cash, some guy who couldn’t get past high school, or a single mom trying to provide for her kid?  Whatever your answer is it will say a lot about your feelings towards the fast food workers who’ve been striking these past months for a $15 hourly wage.

FTC Proposes Stricter Guidelines on Food Ads for Children

Regulators are asking food makers and restaurant companies to make a choice: make your products healthier or stop advertising them to youngsters.

The Federal Trade Commission has proposed sweeping new guidelines that could push the food industry to overhaul how it advertises cereal, soda pop, snacks, restaurant meals and other foods to children.

Many People Stick With Fast Food Even After a Heart Attack

Six months after a heart attack 50% of patients eating at their favorite fast food restaurants.

It would seem logical for patients who have had a heart attack to cut back on fast food.  Some devoted fast food eaters do. But six months later, more than half can still be found at their favorite fast food places at least once a week, according to a study in the American Journal of Cardiology.

Calories Posted on Menus Makes Little Difference in What Children and Teens Order

Children and adolescents noticed the calories posted on the menu but the calorie counts made little difference.

Requiring fast-food restaurants in New York City to post calorie counts on menus did little to cut the number of calories children and teens consumed, U.S. researchers said on Tuesday.

‘Happy Meals’ with Toys Banned to Fight Childhood Obesity

The toys are said to be luring children to high calorie foods.

McDonald’s “Happy Meals” and other fast food snacks that come with toys are to be banned in part of California in an attempt to wean children off unhealthy, high-calorie diets.  The measure, believed to be the first of its kind in the United States, is being introduced in Santa Clara County, an area of 1.7 million people that includes Silicon Valley.
