India’s Real ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ 

Harshvardhan Nawathe won India’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” in 2000.

The film “Slumdog Millionaire,” in which a poor Indian boy wins a quiz show, won eight Oscars. The country is home to a man with a similar story — Harsh Nawathe, who became a millionaire in 2000 as a TV contestant. Today he is helping to educate the children of the slums.

 World’s Millionaire Population Growing Rapidly

Those of you who aren’t millionaires yet, perhaps working harder is not the answer

The number of people around the globe with at least $1 million in assets grew 6% last year to 10.1 million, according to the 12th annual World Wealth Report released Tuesday by Merrill Lynch and Capgemini Group, a consulting firm.

That means an additional 600,000 people became millionaires or richer even as problems tied to the U.S. credit crisis spread in the second half of the year.

Millionaire Households on the Rise

Being a millionaire isn’t even cool anymore. This guy need someone to help him dress

Nearly 10 million households in the US have a net worth of at least $1 million, excluding their primary residences, according to TNS’s “Affluent Market Research Program.”

The research company said the number of millionaire households increased by 5.9% from June 2006 to June 2007. It was the sixth such increase in as many years.

Being a Millionaire is Not Enough to be Considered Rich in England

Britons need a lot more than a million pounds to enjoy the lifestyle of the rich and famous, a report said on Monday.

You need at least 5.8 million pounds to consider yourself “comfortably rich” in Britain, according to research for the National Lottery by the Center for Economics and Business Research.
