MIT cheetah robot
Researchers at MIT have developed an algorithm for bounding that they’ve successfully implemented in a robotic cheetah. The robot sprinted up to 10 mph, even continuing to run after clearing a hurdle in experiments done on an indoor track. The MIT researchers estimate that the current version of the robot may eventually reach speeds of up to 30 mph — half the top speed of the natural cheetah, the fastest land animal on Earth. (Videos)

A.L.O. the Botlr
Starwood brand, Aloft, aims to deliver a fresh approach to the traditional hotel landscape, offering a tech-forward experience and modern style for the next generation of traveler. They recently announced a new member of its Cupertino team, A.L.O., the hotel brand’s first Botlr (robotic butler). Shipyard workers in South Korea will wear robotic exosckeletons.
AT a sprawling shipyard in South Korea, workers building the world’s biggest ships could be wearing robotic exoskeletons to lug around 100-kilogram hunks of metal as if they’re nothing.
As soon as 10 years from now these RoboBees could artificially pollinate a field of crops.
Honeybees pollinate nearly one-third of the food we eat but they have been dying at unprecedented rates because of a mysterious phenomenon known as colony collapse disorder (CCD). The situation is so dire that in late June the White House gave a new task force just 180 days to devise a coping strategy to protect bees and other pollinators. The crisis is generally attributed to a mixture of disease, parasites, and pesticides.
