The 8th Annual DaVinci Inventor Showcase takes place on Oct 13 at the Denver Merchandise Mart. Many innovations and inventions will take the center stage on this day. Monday’s Night with a Futurist offered perspectives on “Next Generation Learning” provided by Michael Cushman. To Cushman, the opportunity for improved learning and training derives from the historically static nature of education combined with the potential offered by the increased pace of technology development. While “our founding fathers were born with the same technology they died with,” current generations are faced with an environment that changes much more rapidly. Advances in the fields of wireless communications and virtual simulation promise a Copernican revolution in education methodology, which Cushman currently identifies as the key constraint in solving the world’s largest problems.

We’ve all experienced a “good cry”-whether following a breakup or just after a really stressful day, shedding some tears can often make us feel better and help us put things in perspective. But why is crying beneficial? And is there such a thing as a “bad cry”? University of South Florida psychologists Jonathan Rottenberg and Lauren M. Bylsma, along with their colleague Ad J.J.M. Vingerhoets of Tilburg University describe some of their recent findings about the psychology of crying in the December issue of Current Directions in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

Seriously If Your So Drunk That You Need This Device Don’t You Think Its Time To Call A Cab?

Patent 6,681,419 concerns a mounting device known as the Forehead Support Apparatus. It is a gizmo that is adapted for attachment to a bathroom wall either above the commode or urinal or below the showerhead. A head support is attached to and extends from the wall and the mounting device. The question is: why would anyone need this? (Obviously a question the inventor never asked himself or we wouldn’t be here in the first place, would we?)

The feeder is based on a Professional Grade Fully Adjustable Full Face Face Shield. These cost $20, are built sturdily with an excellent Hi-Impact and very clear face shield. But they only come in blue. We put several coats of red Krylon on the head piece after we drill some holes for attaching the upper holder for the miniaturized feeding tube.
