Feds are free to sell seized Silk Road bitcoins worth $25 million

The U.S. Marshals will likely auction off the Bitcoins.

The online drug bazaar, Silk Road, was taken down this past October by the feds.  Nearly, 30,000 bitcoins in Silk Road’s coffers was seized in the process.  Last week, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office, which is prosecuting the Silk Road case, announced that a judge had signed off on a forfeiture order for those coins. That means they’re now free to get rid of the 29,655 bitcoins, worth about $25 million at Bitcoin’s current $850 value.

The internet population in China hit 618 million in 2013 with 81% connected via mobile internet

Mobile Internet users increased year-on-year by 80 million people in China.

China is become an increasingly connected country aided not least by the growth of mobile internet access. Last year, China ended up with 618 million Internet users and 500 million mobile Internet users, according to a report published by state-affiliated research organization China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), spotted first by Tech in Asia.

1 in 4 adults hold educational credentials other than an academic degree

A report  from the U.S. Census Bureau says that in the  fall of 2012, more than 50 million U.S. adults, or one in four, had obtained a professional certification, license or educational certificate apart from a postsecondary degree awarded by colleges and universities. This is the Census Bureau’s first-ever report on this topic.
