Among this 98 are ethnicity, income, net worth, home value, if you are a mother, if you are a soccer mom, if you are married, the number of lines of credit you have, if you are interested in Ramadan, when you bought your car, and on and on and on.

Facebook launching PC gaming platform

Facebook’s gaming aspirations didn’t stop with Farmville and its $2 billion Oculus VR acquisition. Nope, the social network is also launching a dedicated PC gaming platform today. Said platform will lean heavily on developers using the ubiquitous Unity game engine, according to a release from the company. The partnership’s first project is admittedly developer-centric, but it has a direct impact on the folks playing games on Facebook. Zuckerberg and Co. describe it as a new export feature baked into Unity that allows a studio to publish directly to Facebook and the aforementioned Facebook PC gaming platform “with very little effort and few code changes.”

Zuckerberg shows off Augmented Reality glasses during F8

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared his 10-year plan for Facebook, onstage at the F8 developer conference. During which he detailed the company’s thoughts on AR and VR and demonstrated a pair of AR glasses that are not yet ready for sale. He also discussed their dedication to live streaming, including a new API  so developers can add live streaming to their hardware.

Onstage at its annual F8 developer conference, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared the social network’s 10-year road map. In addition to the company’s dedication to live streaming (including a new API so developers can add live streaming to their hardware), he detailed the company’s thoughts on how AR and VR will affect our lives. He also showed off a pie-in-the-sky pair of AR glasses that you probably won’t be able to pick up from your optometrist anytime soon.

Facebook can now get more 360-degree video and VR content into your news feed and Oculus thanks to its open sourced virtual reality camera made from scratch. Now you can build your own and start shooting. All the parts for this 17 lens camera on a stick can be purchased online, for $30,000 and later this summer you can find the hardware and video stitching algorithms on Github for anyone to assemble.
