The lenses sit directly on the eyeball, and have been engineered using nanoscale techniques to work as a focusing device that pairs with a pair of hi-tech glasses.

Innovega, a company in the U.S. says, contact lenses which focus 3D screens directly into people’s eyeballs could be on sale as early as 2014.  The tiny ‘screens’ sit directly on users’ eyeballs and work with a pair of lightweight glasses with a built-in translucent screen.

Prevent leg burn and radiation damage with LapGuard.

By Deb Frey

I met the team from Digital Innovations at CES2012 in Las Vegas this year. The LapGuard With Radiation Shielding is a great device. What I like about their products is the simplicity of use. I have a tendency to work with my laptop on my lap.  In the past this caused my laptop to overheat and burn my legs. Yikes!  With the LapGuard I can now work with my laptop on my lap and not worry about radiation or my computer overheating…

A 3D printer that works with chocolate?

3d food printer

Why make your food when you can print it?

Futurist Thomas Frey talked about 3D food printers HERE and now we have a production model that can print with chocolate (and more). How awesome is that!

From Gizmodo:

Found in Town – a lost and found for the internet

Found in Town

Many of us have lost a wallet or cell phone and have just been about to give up on humanity when a perfect stranger returns them.  It’s the hypothesis of Found in Town, a new Chicago startup, that these moments of unexpected human goodness would be much more frequent if only technology were to lend a helping hand. Found in Town essentially brings the lost-and-found box and puts it on the Web.

Retroficiency identifies building energy inefficiencies without ever stepping inside

retroficiencyyyyyyyyy

Energy efficiency is very important to overall U.S. energy consumption.

Buildings are blamed for as much as 40% of U.S. energy consumption, and while green construction is on the rise, identifying the best ways to make an older building more efficient can be a tedious manual endeavor. Retroficiency, whose aim is to disrupt the energy efficiency market, eases the process with the help of extensive data sets and predictive analytics.

Greening an old building traditionally involves a walk-through analysis or diagnostic hardware installation, but the Boston-based company’s newVirtual Energy Assessment (VEA) tool shows energy service providers which changes within the building will have the greatest impact on its efficiency. Retroficiency focuses on commercial real estate, which uses 18% of the country’s energy and spending close to $108 billion annually…
