Unless you work at the Pentagon, the key locks on your desk drawers are probably easy to compromise. So with their new Covert, the folks at Quirky figured that a drawer lock can’t be picked if it can’t be found.
The sliding locking mechanism comes with adhesive tape for a temporary solution, but if you were hoping for any kind of real security you’ll want to screw them in. Once installed on the inside of a drawer the mechanism is completely invisible, and the only way to open it is with an included magnetic key that lets you slide the latch across…
Some of the innovations at CES were basic and if you saw one of them you were going to see 20. Others jumped out and smacked you in the noggin because there were obvious landmark steps in a new direction. The Leonar3Do virtual reality design kit really captured our imagination and kept us thinking all day and night of the possibilities it was capable of…
A Swedish company, myFC, has figured out how to power smartphones using a system that includes some water, a tray, a little round container, and an eyeglass case styled cover. The company is introducing its PowerTrekk system to Americans at the CES show in Vegas. PowerTrekk describes its charger as a pocket size, lightweight gizmo for users “who spend time away from the electricity grid.” Translation: If you are hiking over the weekend with no Starbucks or friend’s flat in sight, your phone can still get charged. Although we saw an lot of different ones, one of my favorite accessories at ShowStoppers on Tuesday evening was the iPad case from Zerochroma. The sleek design and simplicity of the product makes it a must have for iPad owners. Although the smart cover for the iPad is functional as a stand you just don’t get the awesome functionality the Zerochroma provides. The beauty of the Zerochroma cover is that it works with your smart cover…

It’s no surprise how often we use our cell phones. Whether e-mailing, Facebook status updating, or Angry Birds slinging, it seems that we always need to recharge. Cell phone battery life technology has lagged other advancements, such as high resolution displays, faster processors, and larger storage, all of which demand more power. Charging a phone more than once a day has become the norm for many users. In fact, many people have even resorted to carrying around a spare charger or large external battery packs. These tips should help alleviate the problem:

A lot of new devices are starting to flood the market that aim to better the viewpoint of your iPad or make it more versatile. The Beanpad by Mojo Worx Asia is no exception. This invention enlists the wildly successful hippy era trend of beanbags and combines it with a very contemporary device holder. What may set this invention apart from the others on the market is the free-form adjustment capability along with the vibrational absorption aspect, making it ideal for RVs, boats and other similar outdoor or off road excursions.
It also boasts three orientation positions making it possible to watch things landscape, portrait or simply have the bag in the middle for everyday use. While this is certainly a clever way to hold your iPad, the question of durability in the long run arises so we’ll have to wait to hear reports from the field about that part. In the mean time, grab your bag and start using your pad, man!
