Ecovacs Air Purifying Robot

IL CES Direct Feed

Robot air cleanerrrrr

Now you can have a robot that moves where it needs to and purifies the air.

The level of pollution in our ecosystem is often higher than ever before. Many of us live in places where the air quality is questionable and could use help, especially if you already have some sort of health condition. Many types of air purification devices are available, but none function like this one. The Ecovacs Deebot A330 is an autonomously moving air purifier robot. It moves around in the house, and stops at different spots to filter the air…

Wearable LED television

DavidForbes

David Forbes and his wearable tv.

David Forbes was on his way home to Tucson, Arizona, after a family trip last summer, David Forbes was stopped by a policeman in the Detroit airport. Since Forbes entered the airport the officer said he had received 50 panicked phone calls and now his entire family had been marked for extra screening. The delay was inconvenient, but it shouldn’t have come as a surprise. Forbes had 160 circuit boards and enough electronics to start a data center strapped to his body. What the authorities didn’t realize, though, was that all the equipment wasn’t dangerous—it was actually a wearable TV set.

SpareOne

Nursing your smartphone’s short battery life can be a real nightmare when waiting to be rescued after your car breaks down.  But, with Xpal Power (the company behind Energizer and PowerSkin) that may not be much of a problem.  They have developed the SpareOne, a super-cheap phone that runs from a single AA Battery and will reputedly maintain its charge for up to fifteen years.

Car seat sensors ID drivers by their rear ends

buttsensor

Pressure-sensing seat

Hilarity quickly ensues when Larry David calls out “I’d know that tush anywhere!” When your car says it – or at least, thinks it – the result is the engine starting and personal comfort preferences like climate control and seat positioning being remembered and activated, hands free. It’s still sort of hilarious, of course, but you can’t deny the security or the practicality inherent in the concept.

Office ceilings mimic lighting of cloudy days with new LED design

Will LED ceilings improve our office moods?

We know that nature makes us nicer, but can we bring nature inside virtually and still keep the positive effects? researchers from the Stuttgart-based Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO want to find out with an interesting concept for making an office ceiling look like the sky, complete with rolling clouds.

The ceiling, which extends the entire length and width of the room, simulates lighting conditions similar to what you’d experience sitting out on a lawn somewhere, with slight variations as clouds pass over. The goal is to make you feel like you kind of are sitting out on a lawn somewhere…

Why did this Kickstarter Project raise $400,000?

twine-kickstarter-project

Twine could change your world.

We stumbled on a neat little Kickstarter project this afternoon, and it appears to be a bigger deal than meets the eye.
It’s called Twine, a tiny rectangular gadget that looks like a translucent bar of soap. And it’s become a big deal on Kickstarter.
Twine has built in sensors for detecting movement, temperature, moisture, switches, and inputs from pretty much any other gizmo you can think of.
Oh yeah, it can tweet too…

KindleFireeeeeee

The Kindle Fire is a holiday record breaker.

Amazon sent out a press release titled, “2011 is the Best Holiday Ever for Kindle” and looking at the numbers, it seems like a justified statement.

Polaroid Instant Z340 – an instant camera for the digital age

Polaroid Instant Z340

There is nothing quite like a classic Polaroid instant camera. The photos may be murky and the film costs as much as some standalone cameras, but for decades, it was the most magical format in all of photography. Point and shoot, shake the photo for a few minutes, and you’ve got an instant memory preserved in silver and celluloid.
