Is this the shape of the future?

If you happen to be curious about what the future home of your grandchildren might look like, take a glance at Remistudio’s concept hotel called The Ark. Russian architect, Alexander Remizov, is the mastermind behind the project, he believes that his floating “slinky,” which can hold up to 10,000 people can have multiple uses, including a safe house for disaster relief. Sealander Amphibious Camping Trailer

Sealander

You don’t have to decide between a weekend getaway spent at a relaxing campsite or cruising around a lake with the Sealander. Or at least, you no longer have to bring both a canoe and a camping trailer since the Sealander, created by industrial designer Daniel Straub, actually floats on water. Its wide, bowl-shaped design not only provides stability while floating, but it can easily navigate shallow waters without running aground. It also means you don’t need a trailer or a boat launch to get it in the water. Backing it up to a sufficiently cleared shoreline should be more than enough. (Pics)

‘Love Love’

‘Love Love’ is perhaps one of Julien Berthier’s more unusual sculptural installations. The floating sculpture is made from a large sailboat that has been modified to appear as if it is capsizing. Despite its battered appearance the boat is fully functional and able to move around thanks to a built-in motor. (pics and video)

The Plastiki is a ship made from plastic bottles. It was built from this frequently wasted product in order to promote recycling. Last March it left California, heading for Australia. Today, it docked in Sydney, completing a 8,000-mile voyage. The captain, David de Rothschild, described the journey:

De Rothschild, 31, said the idea for the journey came to him after he read a United Nations report in 2006 that said pollution — and particularly plastic waste — was seriously threatening the world’s oceans…

Amazing Dolphin-Boat Submarine

Amazing Dolphin-Boat Submarine

 Like driving a robotic fish

The Innerspace Dolphin and Seabreacher are water vessels designed to look and behave like actual dolphins. They’re powered by a little engine in the back and you can do all sorts of fun stuff like barrel rolls, jumps, dives and drownings. I want one pretty bad. Video and more pics after the jump.
