Scientists have used a low powered laser to activate and direct stem cells to grow teeth. It looks as if they did it right in the mouth (of a couple of species)! That’s a disruptive innovation compared to the way stem cells are typically grown and developed outside the body.

New low-intensity pulsed ultrasound device helps regrow teeth.
Researchers at the University of Alberta in Canada have developed a low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) technology that they hope will ultimately be able to re-grow lost or severely damaged teeth from the root, eliminating the need for pricey prosthetics and painful procedures.

Energy drink habit among teens is causing irreversible damage to teeth as the high acidity levels in the drinks erode tooth enamel.
Scientists have warned that teenagers’ love of energy drinks is taking a terrible toll on their teeth. A study published in the Academy of General Dentistry charted an alarming increase in the consumption of both energy and sports drinks among young adults in the U.S. who use them to help get through the day.
