A genetically modified (GM) crop has been found thriving in the wild for the first time in the United States. Transgenic canola is growing freely in parts of North Dakota, researchers told the Ecological Society of America conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Cute Baby Animal Photos
There aren’t many things in this world cuter than baby animals.
Some of these photos of baby animals were taken in the wild, in the national parks and game reserves of Botswana, Zambia, and South Africa. As with the young of domestic animals, baby wild animals have a special appeal and it’s magical to see them in their own habitat. (Pics)
Extinked Art
The Ultimate Holding Company, a British arts collective, offered tattoos of 100 endangered species to people who are committed to preserving them as a project they call Extinked. One hundred volunteers were chosen out of several hundred who applied to receive a tattoo. Those who made it through had written about why they deserved to be a “lifelong ambassador” for their species.
Joe Richardson, founding member of the collective, is confident that the social experiment will rouse people to action. He was surprised to see how personal the tattoos were to the volunteers, who touchingly described their relationship to their chosen species in their applications.
Should Tiger Farming Be Legal?

Dismayed by dwindling numbers, some experts say tiger farming can stem the burgeoning illegal trade in the endangered cat’s pelts, bones and body parts but others argue that this will only fuel demand.
Rare White Lions Return To The Wild
These lions became only the second pride to take their first steps to freedom in the greater Timbavati region of South Africa.
Immediately establishing their territory the five-strong pride delighted conservationists of the Global White Lion Protection Trust who have worked tirelessly to re-establish the rare white lion in a long term scientific reintroduction program over the past seven years.
“It was an incredibly exciting day and we have been jumping up and down in celebration,” said Linda Tucker, CEO and founder of the WLT.

$14M To Save Rarest Bird In The World From Extinction
Hawaii’s alala bird hasn’t been seen in the wild since 2002.
Federal wildlife officials say they plan to spend more than $14 million to prevent the extinction of the Hawaiian crow, one of the rarest forest birds in the world.

Panda Cub Born At Atlanta Zoo Placed In Incubator For Monitoring

The only panda born at a U.S. zoo so far this year was placed in an incubator on Monday for closer monitoring by zookeepers after visitors flocked to watch mother and child on a live video feed at Zoo Atlanta.
