Last month, a Toronto startup, Figure 1, reached a million users, double the amount it had seven months ago. Now more than a million health-care professionals use the platform, that is similar to Instagram, to share images of patient ailments, without identifiable information, to other doctors from around the world, to seek opinions and get help for their patients.
Apple iPhone owners who have updated their device to iOS 9.3 are being notified via text message of AT&T’s international Wi-Fi calling feature. It is a service that allows users to place calls to — and receive calls from — the U.S. without incurring airtime charges.

We live in an era where new technologies are appearing so fast that it is hard to follow all the new developments. But, personal transportation, the one most often associated with speeds and progress, so far remained largely untouched by the revolution in digital tech – when compared to what happened to communications in the last couple of decades, car remained pretty much the same. Benedict Evans, a veteran mobile industry analyst turned venture capitalist, tweeted a chart on September 3, 2015, showing how traditional TV is losing its share of screen to smartphones and tablets. While Evans’ chart was not the first chart to alarm the cable industry, its timing was particularly interesting, as it came exactly a week before Apple’s major update of its Apple TV hardware. In fact, many financial and industry analysts have predicted the demise of the cable industry since rumors of a new Apple TV hardware or an Apple over-the-top streaming service emerged earlier this year.

Vail Resorts is trying something different on its ski slopes this winter. The resort has updated its EpicMix smartphone app to offer its crowdsourced, real-time wait times for ski lifts. The app will collect data from the RFID-enabled season passes skiers carry at the resort.
