These two photos were taken thirty years apart at the first and last space shuttle launches.

The first space shuttle launched into space thirty years ago. Chris Bray and his father Kenneth were theye to watch the first launch — and took a picture. Then the shuttle Atlantis took its final trip last Friday. Again, the father and son were there. And again, the two snapped a photo to capture the moment. (Pics)

Lost City of Atlantis May Have Been Found By U.S. Research Team

The-Lost-City-of-Atlantis

Greek philosopher Plato wrote about Atlantis some 2,600 years ago, describing it as “an island situated in front of the straits which are by you called the Pillars of Hercules.”

A U.S.-led research team may have finally located the lost city of Atlantis, the legendary metropolis believed swamped by a tsunami thousands of years ago in mud flats in southern Spain.

Savoring the last mission.

Isn’t she beautiful? The 25-year old Space Shuttle Atlantis is ready for her last mission. She has made the journey into space 31 times and this will hopefully be her last. After returning from delivering a mini research station to the Internation Space Station, she will be kept in a state of readyness in case there is an accident aboard the ISS. Fly me to the moon!
If you just so happen to be in the market for a second hand space craft, NASA has a deal for you, pal. The Space Shuttles Atlantis and Endeavour are currently for sale with a price tag of $28.2 m each. Just think, you could park one of these bad boys in your trailer park and relieve its glory days. It’s probably best that you take the shuttle to a qualified space ship mechanic before you commit though. The last thing you wanna do is drop that kind of cash on a lemon.

Did Google Earth Find Atlantis

Well if its not Atlantis its still a pretty cool find

Google is officially denying widespread Internet rumors that its Google Earth software located the mythical sunken city of Atlantis off the coast of Africa. Either that, or Google is totally trying to hide something. Since I always appreciate a nice juicy conspiracy theory, I’m going to go with the latter.

Is this Atlantis? Apparently not, according to those meanies at Google. Continue reading… “Did Google Earth Find Atlantis”

Your Personal Space Shuttle For $42 Million

Your Personal Space Shuttle For $42 Million

 Space Shuttle

Of the thousands of “Once in a lifetime opportunity” ads you see on television and read in the papers, this one could actually be it. It’s not every day that a person gets a chance to own a Space Shuttle, but NASA is offering that to schools, science museums and “other appropriate organizations.” With the aim of generating funds for future missions, the space agency is willing to sell off Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour once they retire in September 2010.
