A pair of skyscrapers are set to become the tallest prefabricated buildings in the world.

And while the two 192-meter-tall (630 feet) towers will rise in densely populated Singapore, large parts of the structures are being built over the border in Malaysia.

The residential project, named Avenue South Residences, will see 988 apartments formed from almost 3,000 vertically stacked “modules.” The firm behind the project, ADDP Architects, says the building method, known as Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC), is less labor-intensive and can help reduce waste and noise pollution.

Singapore has some of the world’s toughest anti-drug policies

A man has been sentenced to death via a Zoom video call in Singapore, as the country remains on lockdown following a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Punithan Genasan, 37, received the sentence on Friday for his role in a drug deal that took place in 2011.

It marks the city’s first case where such a ruling has been done remotely.

Human rights groups argued that pursuing the death penalty at a time when the world is being gripped by a pandemic was “abhorrent”.

The vast majority of court hearings in Singapore have been adjourned until at least 1 June, when the city’s current lockdown period is due to end.

Cases which have been deemed to be essential are being held remotely.

Nearly 20 hours in the air. What’s that like, and why would you even do it?

In a few hours, Singapore Airlines Flight 22 is scheduled to touch down at Newark Liberty International Airport, after a nearly 18 hour trip from Singapore.

IMG_6647

The co-Founder of Nuo, Varun Deshpande announced on twitter that they are opening a bank in Singapore. This is not just a normal bank but a virtual bank for cryptocurrencies. He also stated that they will open an ATM for virtual digital money as well.

They are also introducing a new technology- Advanced Robotic Account Managers (AARAM). What so fascinating about this bank is that this bank doesn’t need a real manager or a banker. Customers will be personally managed by AARAM at their branch. AARAM can give answers to the queries of users of the bank regarding cryptocurrency prices, private keys, decentralized loans, etc. Also, users can book their own AARAM by installing bank app and signing up for the app. It is a completely automated and decentralized bank which ensures no queues at all times. All users from around the world can avail services at no extra cost by visiting the branch.

The Navia – a driverless vehicle that will debut on Singapore roadways

The Navia is a fully autonomous eight-seat shuttle.

Automakers are working tirelessly in the U.S. to get autonomous cars on roadways. We could even see the infamous driverless Audi TT hit showrooms as soon as 2015. But by 2015 driverless vehicles just might be old-hat — at least in Singapore. (Video)
