The future of car-charging is freaky

Car carger u7w9

Embodying Tesla’s unabashedly fearless attitude towards tech, Serbian designer Darko Markovic decided to combine the three things that the car company isn’t afraid of exploring. A. Drones, B. Autonomous Charging (remember that snake arm?), and C. Presenting futuristic technology in a way that impresses some, but scares others!

Airbus’ Pop.Up concept may be the best “flying car” proposal to date

One of the biggest obstacles keeping flying cars grounded isn’t necessarily figuring out how to make a vehicle capable of flight (hello, helicopters) but rather, designing something that can both fly and drive on the streets.

The flexibility of being able to do both is incredibly appealing but physical limitations on both sides of the spectrum impact the ability to efficiently accomplish the other task.

That’s where Airbus’ latest concept changes things up.

It’s easier than ever to ‘drive 65’ in an electric luxury vehicle, with nearly 200 Tesla Supercharger stations strategically placed throughout the continental U.S. and another 150 elsewhere on the planet.   Continue reading… “Tesla Model S drivers have traveled over one billion all electric miles”

Nissan’s New Electric Car will go farther than ever

For many more people than realize it, electric cars are already adequate for their needs and better than a gasmobile for their bank account and quality of life. However, it often isn’t good enough for disruptive technology to be better than the incumbents. It has to be much better. The target for electric cars, in order to meet that challenge, is a very long-range and affordable electric car. That would bring electric car convenience to another level, and leave gasmobiles with not a single actual advantage over electric cars, compared to nearly 10 for electric cars.

Streetscooter

The production of engineering of e-mobility components team from Aachen University built the Streetscooter ‘C16′ electric car using a Stratasys objet1000 multi-material 3D-printer. All the vehicle’s exterior parts, including the large front and back panels, doors, bumper systems, side skirts, wheel arches and a few interior components, were machine fabricated with tough digital ABS materials.

Graphene-based supercapacitors will make battery-free electric cars possible

Another immediate benefit of the supercapacitor film technology is in charging time.

Researchers at Rice University and the Queensland University of Technology have conducted a study that has resulted in the creation of a graphene-based supercapacitor film that could possibly replace the need for a conventional battery in electric cars.

500-mile range electric car will soon be possible, says Elon Musk

Tesla

Tesla to create a 500-mile range electric car.

Tesla Electric cars have the highest energy density battery in the world. That’s twice of the Nissan Leaf. But their range is more than twice that of the Leaf so we come into other factors: what’s the drag co-efficient of the car, how much does it weigh, what’s the efficiency of the motor and gearbox, what’s the rolling resistance? All those factors affect the range.
